Home visits and housebound care

We want to give the best care to all patients. Most care is better at the surgery, but we do home visits when needed.

When we visit at home

  • If you are terminally ill
  • If you are fully bedbound
  • If moving you would cause serious harm

When a home visit is not needed

  • If you can travel safely to the surgery
  • If the reason is non-medical (e.g. no transport or childcare)

How to request a visit

  • Call us or contact us online before 10:30am if you need an urgent visit
  • A nurse or doctor will assess your request
  • Sometimes another team member (e.g. advanced nurse practitioner or district nurse) may visit instead

In an emergency

Call 999 or go to A&E.

District Nurses

District nurses help patients who cannot leave home. They provide:

  • Nursing care and checks
  • Support after surgery
  • Care for terminally ill patients
  • Wound and leg ulcer care
  • Equipment loans
  • Advice on self-care
