Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) can cause serious respiratory illness, especially in young babies and older adults. A new
vaccine is now available to protect those most at risk.
For pregnant women:
- If you’re 28 weeks pregnant or more, you’re eligible for a free RSV vaccine to protect your baby.
- The vaccine is safe for both you and your baby.
- A new dose is needed for each pregnancy.
- Speak to your midwife, maternity team, or GP to arrange your vaccination.
For older adults:
- A single vaccine dose is offered to those aged 75 to 79.
- Eligible patients will be invited, but you can also ask for it if you’re eligible.
- The vaccine is available all year and helps reduce severe illness.
