We were pleased to welcome Councillor Neil Nerva and Councillor Lesley Smith to our weekly Wellbeing Café recently. It was a great chance to show them what’s been happening at the café and how it continues to support people in the local community.
The visit took place during a busy and enjoyable week, with live music, plenty of conversation, and a range of freshly prepared, nutritious meals being shared. As always, the café provided a relaxed and welcoming space where people could come together, catch up, and focus on their wellbeing.
We also spent time talking about local health initiatives, including the Brent Health Matters community health pods , run by Brent Council and the NHS and launched by Councillor Nerva. The programme’s community blood pressure checks are helping more residents access early health screening. We also discussed the Brent Health Matters Community Pods, which offer free health checks for blood pressure, heart rate and BMI, along with personalised wellbeing advice.
The conversations also touched on new and developing neighbourhoods and wider local work aimed at reducing health inequalities and supporting residents to take better care of their health.
Thank you to Councillors Nerva and Smith for taking the time to visit and chat with us. Their support helps strengthen local partnerships and ensures initiatives like the Wellbeing Café can continue to grow and support the community.
