Lonsdale Medical Group Quick Guide 

Type of Appointment Service to use Potential Outcomes

Minor Ailments such as coughs, colds and flu, cystitis.

Local Pharmacy

 

  1. Assessment by Pharmacist
  2. Suggestion of over the counter medications and access to minor ailments scheme ( free prescriptions )
  3. Please note antibiotics are not used to treat colds and flu – over the counter medications are more effective

 

New problems or problems that have got worse that cannot wait until the next routine appointment

 

Telephone Triage Service available between

08.30 and 10.3 by calling the Practice. 

Please note we aim to call you back within 2 hours – if you need more urgent advice please inform Reception

 

Outside of these hours you will be triaged by our Duty Doctor who will make a decision whether your problem can wait till the next day or if another service would be more appropriate.

Please help us to run an effective service and call during the allocated times.

  1. Completed over the phone by a Doctor.
  2. Appointment on the day or another day depending on your problem with health professional that can include a HCA, Nurse, Pharmacist or Doctor.
  3. Requests for letters or administrative queries will be dealt with by our Administration Team.
  4. Referral to Hospital/Hub or walk in centre
Long Term Condition Review  Month of Birth System

 

You will be called by a member of our team to book an appointment that will be with a Healthcare Professional best suited to  your condition. They can include Pharmacists, HCAs, Nurses or a Doctor.

  1. Appointment to review your condition and plan for the next year.
  2. Where possible, one appointment to cover all your conditions.
Routine GP Appointments Routine Appointments – available online

 

This service is for non-urgent medical problems such as fertility discussions.

  1. Available up to 4 weeks in advance
  2. Face to face or telephone appointments available with named doctors
  3. An appointment at the local HUB
Smear Tests, Long Term Condition Reviews, Baby Immunisations, Contraception Advice, Weight Management, Travel Advice Nurse Appointments Usually an appointment within a week
Blood Tests, Health Checks, Long Term Condition Reviews, Flu vaccines HCA Appointments Usually an appointment within a week
Long Term Condition Reviews, Medicine Reviews Pharmacist Appointments Usually an appointment within a week

Please note we have a Duty Doctor Service for Health Professionals throughout our opening hours

NEED HELP AND CANT GET AN APPOINTMENT?

If you are unable to get an appointment please speak to one of our Patient Service Professionals who can discuss your condition and advise on the best way forward and the best person to see.

If you still need help or advice please e mail the Practice Manager directly at Amanda.meehan3@nhs.net or make an appointment in the Patient advice and liaison clinic with one of the Management Team.
